Shocks or no shocks?

Post by Rufus T. Doofus » July 15th, 2016, 7:48 am

Just curious if there's a rule of thumb about smoker trailers regarding shock absorbers for leaf spring suspensions?

Looking around I don't see many photos of trailers with shocks installed. Is there a reason why?

I have never used shocks on any small trailers. But I'm sure it would ride better with than without

My 2 cents is it would be a bit smoother if you put them on. However, is smoother necessary? My observation is that most boat, quad and small utility trailers do not have them.

The shocks are unnecessary as the load is almost always solid mounted/strapped to the trailer, they are only required for loose items(like in a caravan) or live stuff(like people or animals).
