New to here

Post by brdbkr79 » September 8th, 2019, 11:01 pm

Picked up the free plans and figured I’d give this forum a shot. I’ve owned a metal fabrication shop here in South Dakota since 2003 and started doing small competition bbq a couple years ago and am going to build a couple smokers and see what happens.
I run a 5x10 torchmate table at my shop and work back and fourth with my neighbor that builds tanks so it seems like it should be a decent fit to build a few pits.

Welcome. Very handy owning a fab shop and plasma table. Look forward to your build. And remember, the more pics the more comments and interaction you'll get :D

well most of the free plans have been redrawn to accept the 26"x72" tube that my neighbor should have done this week for me. I have added a few things and made the firebox and the warming cabinet a single piece I made it big enough that i dont need a cap on the end of the tube hopefully start cutting this week sometime as soon as the tube is done.

Has anybody put a gravity feed chamber off the side of the warming cabinet for smaller cooks I'm considering it so when i do a brisket overnight i can throw it in there and not have to keep feeding the offset all night. my other option is to cannibalize my old traeger and put the feeder on there. thoughts ? it may sound dumb i know but sleep is good.

Yes, RC built a removable GF assembly that he can put on his WC and can be removed when he doesn't need it. None of it is insulated because he lives in Florida so cold weather isn't an issue.
