I use my smokers constantly. If I were to put them up for any length of time I'm pretty sure my whole family would have me committed to the mental hospital

Re: My Least Favorite Smoking Task
The trailer one actually got parked in the barn and safe from the snow drifts for the winter for a change - it typically gets fired up to make jerky if the hunting season is successful. The GF will get put in the car garage and will most likely get used for Christmas. Rusty is in the wood shed ready to travel the next time I get called to work...so maybe I mis-spoke about putting them away for the season.

Yours gets put away? Shoot, I had mine out a week ago, to smoke a chuck roast and a pork tenderloin. I've had mine out at -6 F.

Re: My Least Favorite Smoking Task
Things have changed some since this post. I sold my trailer so I could build a big version of Mack...except I sided my house and built a smoker for a buddy instead. Rusty has done some traveling - to Kansas for a small pipeline job last spring and now to Maine for a powerline gig. I was in California for a bit but Rusty had to stay home...I didn't figure working the fires in the Napa Valley and firing up Rusty would go over so well. And my typical smoke for Christmas didn't happen either because I didn't fly in until Christmas Eve and came down with the COVID on New Years Eve...now back in Maine. It was a bit too windy to fire up Rusty for the Super Bowl but warmer weather is coming an I plan to get some cooking done on the weekends.JKalchik wrote:Yours gets put away? Re: My Least Favorite Smoking Task
I've shlepped by GF over 2,200 miles..... and I have to winch it up onto a flatbed trail.
It does sound like you've had some..... challenges. Maybe get in contact with Operation BBQ Relief if you're off fighting fires? You might not be able to light it off, but somebody else might.
Here's hoping that you recover from COVID quickly and well.
