Brisket Prices

Post by hogaboomer » October 21st, 2021, 9:21 pm

I was at HEB tonight and was considering getting something to put in the smoker. I looked at briskets. They had several, the one that stood out was a Wagyu from Snake River Farms for $157. Pork butt was $25.

I went home with a ten pound bag of chicken leg quarters. :(

Brisket here has doubled. Pork ribs too. Don't get me started on chicken wings...

If it's tourist season, how come I can't shoot 'em?

So true....I about fell over when I priced out a case of ribs at Costco last month. Whole chickens have gone up 30%. Pork shoulders have been pretty consistent tho so I now have a bunch of pulled pork in the freezer to get me thru till things calm down.

Steel is outrageous as well...maybe we should all take up basket weaving till this inflation works itself out.

What are you guys paying per lb at the moment?

Over here in the UK a quality Irish brisket is $5.50USD / lb, and a lower end UK brisket is $3.80 / lb.

Steel - I can get a sheet of 3mm (just over 1/8") plate 1000mm x 500mm (40in x 20in) for £25 / $34

(I've had to do all the conversions for you as we use KG and £, I've had a few beers cos it's Friday so that was hard work!)

HEB website is showing untrimmed beef brisket for $3.67 a pound. I didn't see any when I was there, all they had was Wagyu, showing that at $8.23 a pound. $123 for a 15 pound brisket. Prime is $5.16 a pound.
I haven't bothered to check steel lately.

Costco here in NE FL has prime brisket around $4.50ish

Still get sales on butts for $.99lb and ribs usually $2.99lb on sale
