what type of wood do you use i mean do you use wood chips or saw dust? we have lots of maple at the farm and we would rather use wood chips rather than sawdust. if you use sawdust what would be a method to get sawdust out of splints of wood?
also how much fuel can you put in there and how long does it go for?

Considering the heating surface and a little experimenting I've done I would presume it runs on sawdust or chainsaw dust (slightly larger). Difficult to transfer much ignition from a round metal hot surface to larger pieces of wood like chips. The hot rod in a pellet drive is lighting a compressed sawdust and only for the time it takes to get it "stoked".

And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy. :D
Current smokers: Egor (trailered RF) and Easybake (tabletop pellet drive)

Looks like it would require some form of sawdust or small chips to work. With a chainsaw you could make enough chips to pack that tube full in a few minutes.

I've been using my circular saw to cut chunks for my fridge smoker & ive been doing it on a tarp so I can collect the sawdust. :kewl:
