Smoke stack pipe size

Post by tico » March 20th, 2018, 4:53 pm

I want to make sure that it is ok to drop the pipe size from 5 inch down to 4 inch on a double pan.
My supplier only has 21 foot lengths of 5 inch for sale.
They have 4 inch and 3 inch drops available.
Do I need to increase the length of the pipe to compensate for cubic inches as in a reverse flow? Or am I ok just reducing to 4 inch or even 3 inch and keeping the length the same?

It's not as critical on a vertical since the cabinet basically works as the stack so I believe 4'' will work fine.

Measure Twice.....Cut Three Times.

You could even put 2- 4” pcs on there and a damper so you can cut it down if you want.
