Lets talk Ball Valves
It seems that my search has lead to allot of questions/concerns on who makes the better ball valves...
Who makes a quality Ball Valve at a fair/reasonable price?...
Is there a Temperature rating on the ball Valves that should be considered?...
Is there specific materials to stay away from when considering a Ball Valve?...
Any light you guys can shine will certainly be helpfull in the OVAL descission I'm about to embark on...

Re: Lets talk Ball Valves
Be sure you are buying " full port" ball valves, what this means is the inside dimension of the ball is a true dimension of the nominal pipe size. Standard port ball valves have a reduced port. As far as materials go most ball valves have a brass body, stainless steel ball and teflon seals. As far as temperatures are concerned I don't believe you have anything to worry about.

Like Weldun said a full port is all the worry to have...but if you want a quality go for Nibco ... best quality for price

Thanks Guys for the input
After reading several Ball Valves descriptions on Ebay they seemed to have various heat ranges associated with the Ball Valves and I wasn't sure as to the various materials used to have such a impact on temperatures...seeing how its so close to the heat source I certainly did not want one that would cause prematurely failure by melting the rings...

Is this for the drain or a air inlet?

I ordered mine from grainger...they deliver free to a local branch.
They also had the pipe nipples as my local big box stores did not carry in that size. Expensive but great quality.

Re: Lets talk Ball Valves
Sorry for all the question here however not being familiar with all the what's good for yea and what's not in the world of Ball valves...
I was looking at the various Ball Valves and noticed that there was some that said Lead Free and some that are not addressed as far as having lead in them...
Should I be worried about the NON Lead Free versions? they are cheaper...But seems that they would not be good for allowing consumables to processed for human consumption...Would this apply to being used for addressing the air intake? Will it be something I need to be concerned about?

Re: Lets talk Ball Valves
Don’t worry about it...all brass in the field of Plumbing now has to be lead free...so the extract .0001% of lead out...it’s just another way the man can raise prices on materials and stick it to us...

Re: Lets talk Ball Valves
As opposed to paying less and having a shorter lifespan from lead intake????
Sometimes regulation is good.

Re: Lets talk Ball Valves
It's funny how this world spins, we had some old homes in our area that still had lead pipe for their water service from the main to the house. But if you changed a valve inside the house it had to be lead free.....hmmmm?
