Lots of work on the small finish bits. Still have to add the stack cover bot otherwise it’s all done … for now lol. Still thinking about a shelf on the door side. The wood on that side gets warmer than I’d like. First burn and seasoning went down yesterday. Cooking brisket, butts, short and spare ribs right now. Time for the neighborhood bribery tour!

Get yourself a sheet of hardy board and line that wood side board with it to insulate it. Everything looks good.

They sealed up great. I have one leaky corner but there’s a gap in the gasket there. Tiny wisp of smoke is all.

Looks fantastic Dave.

Just wondering why this one isn't an RF as most of your others have been though? :)

Thx Sheff. Actually, I’m exactly even now. 2 RF pits, 2 standard offsets, and 1 hybrid! Really enjoying this one so far. Amazing how responsive it is to minor adjustments to the stack baffle. And the throat baffle directing air up seems to really make an impact on the first 10” of grate by the firebox. It’s the coolest spot in the pit. The extra 4” baffle extension above the grate really is effective.

Evidence …

This bark looks sooo dark. Meat candy.

If the brisket was meat candy, the short ribs where meat lollipops.

Tucked back in its kennel for the night. The BLO seasoning really took well.

I have a big bandsaw with a bunch of 120" blades. (1HP motor) I am wanting to build a pergola and am setting up a few stands on both ends with conveyor rollers to attempt to slit some 9' long railroad ties to make the rafter beams and joists. I get a 9' tie for $25 and have seen them as cheap as $20.
tinspark backyard sawmill!! LOL!! will post if it works, but will be a few months still.

Hahaha. Cut enough rafters and you’ll recoup the cost of that saw for sure.

Got it on Ebay about 15 years ago used for like $300 when I added 1000 sq. Ft to my house.
Used it a bunch for custom blocking, but has just been in the way since. I was kicking around getting rid of it, and it was relegated to under a canopy on the back side of the shed.. May get some more use out of it yet!
Leave it rough and stain the cut edges to match the creosote. $6 per nine foot section. I bet that'd look killer! finishing up a few other projects and am itchin' to try it. just gotta bolt everything down so that nothin moves ..

Close friend’s daughter’s grad party. I’ve been slowly paying them back for that one time they helped us move when I was out of town. He’s been holding that over my head for years. I think after this we’re even!!
