uh oh, the old magnet trick...
just kiding, looks great! I grind the paint/ enamel off the bottom of the lip of the kettle lid and then stitch weld the kettle lid to the barrel lid. then I cut out the center of the barrel lid leaving the ring of the barrel lid in place. it fits perfect. after I paint the lid I get high temp silicone the same color as my paint or at least use clear color and seal the 2 the rest of the way.
some of the guy's on here use a piece of strap around the inside of the drum also. both will work perty good.

Thanks Frank, Since I got the 1" metal strip and I don't have a welder I may just try the metal strip.

I worked on my UDS today, I made a heat deflector/water pan out of a 14" stainless steel wok and made some handles for the lid, the one was broken that was on it. pics.

Qooole! - now screw on a 2 foot extension with a weather cap and a rooster with a weathervane and some North, South, East and West arrows then maybe a lightning rod with a ground wire - damn I like to over-design stuff... :D

sorry - it would prolly take 2 people just to take the lid off... :oopssign:

Hey that is a UDS, no need to dress it up! I do like the new handles and exhaust tho!
Looking good! Do you have a plan to adjust the exhaust?

Excellent idea Rick! I think he could mount a trailer jack to the side and just crank the lid up! Easily done! Spending other peoples money, I love it!

Thank's for the comments!

I will more than likly allways run the stack wide open, but I can get another flange just like what its mounted to and screw it on top of the stack with a plate to slide open with one mount bolt.

Thanks DarylCincy!
I usually run my exhaust wide open too.
Was just curios since it is a single large opening, i think that will move alot more air than the standard kettle openings!

What you cannt see is the stack is mounted over 5 single 3/4" holes kinda a baffle, so its not just a big 2" hole in the lid. It may work better that way?
