I have provide deflector plates as an option with the UDS's I sell. I personally don't care for them. Never seen a need.

I don't use one, but have thought about setting a pizza pan on top of my basket and see how that works.

I just wrap a grate with heavy duty foil, and it works great for me. Its a cheaper option to having a thick plate.

I'm working on my UDS and will have it completed (except paint) this weekend. I plan to use an 18" pizza pan as a deflector plate for now. Do I need to drill any holes in it or use AS IS? If I like the results, the plan is to have 1 fabricated from 10 guage plate.

Gracias,
JT

Thanks for the info. Is there any specific pattern to follow or just randomness? Does anyone have a few pics?

Gracias,
JT
