Refrigerator horizontal RF??

Post by trevor.dobrinska » May 18th, 2018, 10:31 am

I just found this old refrigerator and am curious to know if anyone has turned something like this into a horizontal RF stick burner? My intention would be to turn it on it’s side so that the door lifts up. I have an old wood stove that would be used as a firebox. I’d really like to convert it to a stick burner rather than a pellet or electric.

I’m sure someone with knowledge will be able to answer. I’m just posting to keep up. Should be one cool looking rig.

Refrigerator insulation won’t take the heat that goes into a RF or an offset for that matter. They do make great cold smokers just has to remove plastic parts.

Check the sizes against our pit calculator and see about fire boxes vs cook chambers.

I don’t want to sound like a stick in the mud, but if I asked the same question I would hope someone would tell me the truth up front.

Yep....no fun to waste time on a doomed-from-the-start project.
