I would spray or wipe a light coat of oil on everything inside, get it up to about 300 degrees for about 30 minutes or so, then bring the temp back down, throw something fatty on there and let it cook for a bit.

If it did not warp it, crack the welds or do other damage... then it's not too hot.
For actual cooking, I'd go a tad easier on the temps.
