I’m in devils territory here in Phoenix but my wife is a U of A grad. I’m impartial but it’s fun to keep things stirred up here in the neighborhood.Smokinnewby wrote:Yah down here in southeastern Az they tend to favor the kitty a bit more. Lol

Just my 2cents on your shop....plumb in running water and twice as much electricity as you think you will every need. I put a full bathroom, hot and cold water and a full 110amp sub panel in mine. I have an outlet every 4 feet in 20amp, a 30 amp and several 220v for the big tools. I also ran a ton of overhead lights. My electrician thought I was nuts but I love it. And, if you can swing it, plumb in AC....then you can use it year round.

Your cowboy cooker and disco turned out great. Hope you don't mind if I use a few of your ideas when I build mine.

Update on my current status:

I started Friday night around 6:30 framing the walls. Finished last night and took the day off to spend with the family. Tomorrow will consist of framing the roof in with common rafters and hopefully getting it “dried in” by Tuesday night. At this rate I am only a few weekends away from getting back to building pits!!!!!!

Coming together very nicely. Should be a nice size shed. Lots of building and tinkering should be going on there down the road a bit.

Update on the cowboy cooker: the local 4H had their auction this past Friday night.

The cowboy cooker and wok I donated for my kids club brought in $1000.00. The money will help fund them for the next year. While at the auction I picked up a cord of pecan wood that has been split and will be delivered to my place for $175.00 I thought it was a win win situation. Oh, I also got a few orders for cowboy cookers while I was there as well. Which brings me to my next topic, the shop build:

I am hoping to be back up and welding pits in a few months. I only get limited time to work on the shop cause of my real job, then there are the side jobs that are funding the build, and family time which leaves me working 7days a week and not getting any down time except a few hours a night before bed. Slowly but surely we will get this accomplished and back to welding and fabbin!!!!!

The shed is coming along nicely. Good that the cowboy cooker and wok made some decent money for the cause.

This is a true fact along with the 3 days of winter and the rest is summer!!Dirtytires wrote:Where are the windows? We have 364 days here of sunshine a year..
I didn’t want windows in the shop in order to cut down on access points of break ins, I don’t care to have anyone jump the fence and decide to go shopping in my shop. I have a single man door and an 8’x8’ steel roll up door. “We don’t need no stinkin windows!!!!!

Re: Smokinnewby Rides Again
Good point....never know when a scoundrel is gonna hop the 6 foot block wall, punch out a window and haul a 600 pound, half-built smoker back out with him.
But seriously, security is a concern. I have 10foot ceilings so mounted some narrow windows at the 8 foot mark. I get sunlight and can still use the wall for a shelf or work bench. Great progress on your build. Looks like you will be moved in pretty soon.
