Alrighty gents
This is what I came up with between Sunday and today

I will admit I kinda cheated and used part of an engine stand. I modified an engine stand for my dad so he could attach a vw engine so he could rebuild it with out doing so much bending over. Anyhow I had the top portion of the original stand in my scrap pile and grabbed it after failing twice before.
I must say, it did the trick. The grate is level and very sturdy. It swivels very smoothly and will raise up another few inches if really needed. It’s predrilled to accept a pin to lock it in place as well.
I took an old plow disc and plugged the center hole and added some horseshoe handles. I got it all shined up and ready to season. I think to season it I will do it in my smoker. Not exactly sure what to do with the cooking grate. Do I season or just let a good fire bake off the impurities?

notice the garage floor is clean and everything is picked up (going for brownie points with the wife)

i decided to add a horseshoe to the bottom of the disc so it would be a little more stable while on the cooking grate.

All I have left to do is paint it and season and she will be ready to go.
I made the decision a few nights back to donate this cooker to the local 4H auction they are having in a few months. I hope it will be good enough to raise enough money to support the 4H club my kids are involved with. Wish me luck!!!!!
