I was moving my smoker trailer up onto my carport to use it this weekend and I made a big mistake. I pull my trailer around with a dolly by hand even though it weighs 1600 pounds. I popped the dolly onto the hitch and drug the trailer up into the carport. The carport has a little slope to it and the trailer started to roll backwards. I quickly stuck my foot behind the tire on the dolly to stop it. My mistake was not locking the dolly on the hitch. That trailer continued to roll back and the handle on the dolly swung over the top unhooking from the ball and the handle hit the back of my head with enough force to almost knock me out. I have been nursing a goose egg on the back side of my head for a couple hours now. That handle swiped my ear and knocked my hat and glasses off.
Lock your hitches folks!....and get a helper!

That sucks. I did something similar and scratched the tailgate and put 2 dents in it when my trailer came loose while I was loading it.
Hope your headache and footache gets better and the bbq is superb

That definitely sucks! I'm glad that it didn't turn out any worse than that.

The filet mignons were great tonight and tomorrow I am smoking a whole chicken and two tri tips.
My foot did not get hurt......the dolly wheels stopped rolling...it was just the dolly itself that catapulted over and into my head.
I'm so glad the smooth part of the handle is what caught me...Had a bolt or the T handle caught me I would most likely went for a bambulance ride.

Thanks for sharing towtruck. Did the same thing w/ a small camper. Watched it roll 30 yards down the driveway into the street. Torked the tongue on the trailer but no other damage. Definitely could have been worse. Thank god no cars/people were in the way. Wake up call for sure.
