Building contest. Judged by all voting members in the first week of 2012. Deadline is 12/31/11. Points could be earned for topics like: most original idea, fit & finish (per photos), ease of use of the finished smoker, least temp variance across grate, etc. Honor system for some things but maybe bragging rights for the winners (1st,2nd,3rd) maybe a different ranking on this site? Possibly a featured photo of the winners on the website home page for a few months ... trying to think of something that can be done for no site expense but real interesting. Sundays are designated response days for the contest to get past week's photos into the site as progress updates... just thinking into my keyboard.... rick

so more of an annual contest for that one? I like it! maybe have a nice prize for it and like you said... bragging rights in the signature or profile

Sorry - I'm still figuring out how to easily find where someone has responded to one of my comments... Annual would be perfect so there's enough time but still an incentive for guys to get-r-done in time for the judging. Could end it on March 15th and award it on St. Patrick's day so they'd have most of the winter to get all the shop work done (welding is an indoor sport up here in Nebraska in the winter). Maybe 3 sashes (Blue, Red, White) for 1st 2nd and 3rd places printed "SmokerBuilder Winner" mailed to the recipient and he has to drape it over his smoker and take a picture of it and post it to the site - put that up there by the Buttula picture at the beginning of the site for awhile. Then they mail the sashes back and they become traveling trophies. Come to think of it, Edna won miss congeniality back in the 1903 contest - but she was better looking then...

First off,

I use the view unread post link, carefull cause the one right next to it is the active post link I believe and you'll get a ton of post pop up when ya click that one.

Anyways I click the unread one and after I respond I just hit board index and the unread link again.

Its not perfect but it seems to work pretty good for me.

I like the idea of the contest build, I really like the traveling trophy sash. Sounds pretty cool.
Maybe by fall I can be in a better place to start another build.
