Hi From Perth Western Australia

Post by highlucks » May 24th, 2018, 10:09 pm

Hi Guys,
Thanks for having me I found the forum yesterday and have already learned a heap from the building sections.
Currently I am using a Bradley electric. Yep I am sure thats a naughty word in these parts. I also have a couple of Weber Kettles 20" and a 16"

I will soon be gathing my parts to build a revers flow with adjustable baffle plates. it will hopefully be 48 x 20" in size.

Thanks for the great site I look forward to learning more, it is also awesome to find a forum that is still active.

Cheers Camo

Don't be locked into the idea of "finding" a round tank. In Australia good one's are few and far between. If you are stuck go to a sheetmetal fabrication place and they will roll you a 6mm plate in whatever round you want. A good few of the offset smoker fabricators in Australia go this route from the get-go to avoid having to clean out crud from a used and generally shagged old tank.

Or...go square. Avoid all the drawbacks of working with circles.

Mack, anyone?

Indeed. Mack is an excellent choice. Square so easier to weld, holds heaps and has a cool factor of 10... :D

The plans can be had at https: smokerplans.net... and if you are really lucky Frank and the boys have converted it all to metric... just for us :D
