Regarding the well documented after effects of chili. I did not know until quite recently that just like dried beans that need a soak overnight and rinse in the before cooking, canned beans need a rinse as well. If you drain and rinse canned beans before tossing them into the pot you should notice a great reduction in any before mentioned post chili pyrotechnics as it were

If it can't be smoked .... try frying it. It that don't work, it's probably best just left alone
