Mig welding settings

Post by captbo » June 5th, 2017, 9:41 am

Hello, I have an older Miller 150, running gas, I am looking for some settings for welding different thickness material such as expanded metal to angle for building a coal and wood box, I know a lot has to do with technique keeping the heat on the thick stuff but any pointers will be appreciated . I have an Oklahoma Joe's Highland,, and I would like to build a matching shelf,, Thanks again

What size wire are you using? I don't have the same machine but for 9 gauge flat expanded metal an half way setting for the heat and .028 wire you could go with something like 25 inches per minute of wire should be a good starting place.

Many machines have a chart on the inside lid covering the wire spool. It's a good starting point in most cases.
