Lump or briquette?

I live in the UK so be mindful that we don't have the vast range of quality briquettes that you do in the States but do most of you run lump or briquette in your GF smokers?

I prefer lump. Briquettes produce several times the ash that lump does, and I've found that I don't care for the flavor imparted by the briquettes. Lump does burn faster and hotter, so you will have to stoke a little more frequently (a full chute on mine still runs 12+ hours.)

Cheapest briquettes I can find. Royal oak burns good.

Tried a few different things, best luck so far is with the red bag royal oak, it's local to me made less then 50 miles away. Flavor, color of meat, seems the most consistent when I cook with the hard wood oak charcoal, a few times I have added some wood to the bottom ash area, no real effect from the couple of times I have tried it, i can easily get 20 plus hours cooking from a 15 lb bag with smoker at 225
