Shelf Frame - Notch and Bend Angle - Has anyone done this?
Hello Everyone,
Wondering if anyone has made a shelf frame by notching a length of angle and then bending to make the rectangular frame? See test below.

I haven't used this technique for building grates but I have used it many times for other projects. It makes for a clean edge and a good looking grate as long as all of the notches are in the correct place and it remains square.

Measure twice, cut three times...

Learning generally boils down to "Repetition or the avoidance of pain", some people learn by doing, some by watching and some just have to pee on the electric fence.

It works....have to decide if all the triangle cuts are easier than grinding a welded edge smooth.
Both are fine.

Same here, I figure if I can make it shorter pretty easy but if I need to make it longer again it takes some work.Weldun wrote:That's why I always cut long pieces first that way I can salvage short ones from them Big T

How does this measure out. If your grate is 48 wide by 22, do you simply measure those points twice and then cut? So 22, 48, 22, 48?

You will loose a little legnth on each bend but, yes, the center of the notch is the outside of each corner.
