Wood burner as firebox

Post by randy028 » January 5th, 2012, 3:36 am

Hello. I have got hold of a wonder coal wood burner for free. It is lined with firebrick and has the grate and shaker for clean out. I plan on using a 500 gal tank for my chamber. Has anybody seen anything like this for a firebox. I could put a damper coming out of the stove to control the amount of heat going into the chamber. I plan on using a reverse flow for my smoke chamber any help appreciated Thanks Randy C

have never seen one of these used as a firebox. however, I did google them and check them out. it looks like to me it is a wood burning indoor stove. I would be leery to use it since it has been a heating appliance. has it ever actually burned coal? or is that just a part of the name? like i said, never seen one of these.

Hello, Thanks for the reply. It has always been used to burn wood in. It is identical to a wonderwood. I was just thinking about it having firebrick in it and being more easy to control

If it has never had any coal burned in it and if it is big enough for your smoker... it should work fine :kewl:
