53 inch - 9 feet - FB question

Post by 2big2fast » May 23rd, 2017, 4:13 pm

hello ! have a question - I'm in process of building a large smoker (53" diameter and 8 feet long .
I put the numbers in Feldens calc for the FB size and I'd like to get the FB smaller . I'm good with it being 48 W , 30 T and 30 or 36 deep , but that only gets me to 65-70 % , how big a propane burner needed to assist ?

any other ideas

I'm not sure of that I as only burn wood but Pete could probably help you out with the BTU's needed. I would be very careful adding propane to a cooker if you don't have all of the safety devices inplace. :exp:

Agreed . I'm pretty sure I'm going to move forward with 2 smaller FB's and two stacks in the middle .

If this was mine I believe I would either put a plate in the middle making it 2 divided CCs or cut her in half and set them side by side.
