Fire box and Smoke Box

Post by The Vaq » August 1st, 2012, 4:43 pm

Does anyone know which way is better having the fire box on one end and the smoke box at the other end or the fire box and the smoke box on the same end?

Let there be smoke.....

Not sure I understand what you meant by smoke box.....

If you can't fix it by sheer force or cursing......then it can't be fixed.....

I think some people call the smoker box a warmer box if that helps.

Oh.....I have always seen the warmer box on top of the fire box with an adjustable plate to control temp....does that make sense?

It makes sense. For some reason down here everyone has the warmer box/smoker box on one side of the cooking chambers and the fire box on the opposite end.

It can be done both ways. I prefer to put it on top of the firebox.

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

I do not consider a chamber on the opposite end of the firebox a warmer if it requires the heat/smoke to warm it and your exhaust is running through it. Personally I do not want my already smoked food being warmed by more smoke. I always refer to these as vertical smoking chambers. My warming chamber is over my firebox, I can turn it into a smoker by opening a slide damper and allowing heat/smoke to enter it.
I hope this helps. :)
