I truly love the added volume of air on the monster uds 110 I swear it does something that a 55 does not do the smoke and heat swirl more and I get no hot spots it cooks even i have some secrets as far as making the rack adjustable anywhere I want in the smoker the drum is too expensive to just start drilling holes in it willy nilly style
The coal basket is made from a 1/3 55 gallon cut off steel drum that I shot full of holes countless times after consuming too many Belgium strong ales
The air intake wide open will get me to oven temps around 350 400 degrees
225 is me barely opening the air intake it's regulated by a fridge magnet. Dead simple but it's effective I truly love this unit
The weight of the lid combined with the rubber gasket that came already installed makes the junction of lid to drum air tight you all might be wondering about it getting hot and melting but trust me I have had a entire basket glowing in this thing and no signs yet of gasket failure
My only problem is trying to work out installing a heat diffuser while catching the fat rendering from my cooking meat I paid way too much for the oversize grate I have now no way I'm buying another I'll take some ideas from anyone !!

I sell bbq on the weekends and I have a real nice reverse flow but my 55 gal is my go to for everything. I'm building a 6x10 trailer for my setup this upcoming year and I wanted to know how much was invested in your whole 110 setup and where'd you get the racks.

Love the simplicity.
My gas grill has triangle plates below the grate and directly above the burner tube to diffuse the drippings. To catch the drippings, why not flip the triangles over to channel drippings to one side. You could stagger them to prevent blocking the heat/smoke movement.

I'd say make an adjustable plate like Frank has on his drum. I know it works great and that is the only one I know of you could copy that large.
Current Smokers: Backyard RF Offset and Hybrid RF Offset trailer rig with Cowboy cooker and fish fryer, always room for more........
