Hey all. If It seemed like I ignored anyone's comments then I'm sorry... I just looked at this forum on my computer and I'm seeing about ¼ of the posts on here aren't showing up on the TapTalk app on my phone!!! It's the strangest thing!!! Does anyone know what's up with that? :oopssign:

As for the post issue it could be that you need to refresh the computer pages or back out of tapatalk close the app and open it again. Or it could just be Pete.

Finished up the shelves today. I'm using 4 stock racks from some GE oven. They just happen to be the perfect size.

I also swapped out the wheels on one side for some lawn tractor wheels and a ¾" axle to replace the ⅝" one. The old axle was bent and the wheels, which had a 300lb rating, had both bent and twisted. Probably from rolling it home, but if it happened once it could happen again. These tires are 4 ply and rated for 650lb each. Got them for free and they hold air... Just need some cleaning and a coat of paint.

The rotating casters are a bit bent as well. They are only rated for 250lb each. I'm thinking that they need to be heavier duty. If not bigger casters then I was toying with the idea of some different wheels for that side as well. Lol

Haha the bigger tractor tires just came with the pile of wheels I got. I don't think I could bring myself to use them on this =)) I was gonna call it Frankensmoker since I built it with parts from a dead pellet stove, but maybe MTS (Monster Truck Smoker) if I put a motor on it and use those wheels. :welder: \m/ not sure how I could mount them and still be able to steer it... Maybe I'll put something together in CAD that can mount in place of the casters. Back to the grindstone... :jocomp2:

Soooo... Since I put all this work into the wheels... Permanent-mount to trailer now? The trailer was borrowed from me and then lost , just returned to me today. I would use the casters for a wide base landing gear off the front so it would be 4 wheels on the ground while in use. Smoker wheelbase to outside of current tires is 28". The trailer is 52" wide and the smoker would bolt to it flawlessly after I remove the wood. By some miracle of chance the smoker and the trailer share a lot of the same length dimensions. Also it would not be getting any taller going from its own wheels to trailer mounted. Any thoughts?

Looks like it might be top heavy for that trailer. Are you going to tow or just moving around the yard?

Well I referred to my uncle who drove commercial trucks for a while. He told me that .32g was pretty standard as a tipping point for a semi-trailer. So, since the trailer and smoker together weigh 575lb, and it took 190 lb of force at the top to get a tire to lift, and based on this: 190/575=.33 Tipping point would be .33g. Since the CG is somewhere below the top where I was pushing, that, at the very least, means the smoker would have better than a .33g tipping point. Maybe a lot... Maybe a little... Either way, as long as I don't get stupid with it I should be fine.
